Designing for Democracy

Dortmund, Germany

I was honoured to receive another international invitation from Thinkup Editions to contribute a black-and-white poster on the theme of Democracy. This compelling exhibition features the work of 72 designers from around the world, and I’m proud to represent Canada among such a talented and diverse group of creatives in Dortmund, Germany.

I was recently invited to contribute to a book project alongside 100 international designers. In addition to submitting selected posters, I was also asked to write an accompanying poem—an unusual and inspiring challenge that pushed me creatively in new ways.

“Designing Democracy is political, provocative, reflective, aesthetically engaging, visionary, and practical. We see Designing Democracy as a call to all democratically minded individuals to reflect on and engage in dialogue about democracy. At its core lies an interdisciplinary approach: how can we collaboratively work across perspectives to develop solutions for democracy's current challenges?”
